It's Official: Sweet Magnolias Renewed for Season 4 Despite Season 3 Disaster

Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias premiered exactly three months ago, bringing joy to many fans of the beloved Netflix drama. As it continued to explore the lives of three best friends from the fictional town of Serenity, South Carolina, the third installment proved to be a little bit disappointing. The audience didn't appreciate the show diverging from Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen's relationship dramas and focusing more on the town's issues.
At the same time, Sweet Magnolias' third seasons also seemed complete unlike the previous two installments. For instance, there was no suspense at the end. For this reason, perhaps, many viewers didn't anticipate a fourth season of the show. But now, it is official – Sweet Magnolias Season 4 is only a matter of time.
Netflix Has Greenlit Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias
Based on Sherryl Woods' novel cycle of the same name, Sweet Magnolias was taken on by Netflix back in 2018. Nonetheless, the first season of the show hit the screens only in 2020, instantly becoming the streaming service's top romantic drama alongside Virgin River.
Since then SM has spanned three seasons, revolving around Dana Sue, Maddie, and Helen – childhood friends that are now running the titular spa together. And now the fourth installment is on its way as Netflix has recently approved it, meaning we are to see our beloved characters once again.
Sweet Magnolias Season 4 Release Window
Given that the streaming service has just announced SM's renewal for the fourth season, it's too early to expect an exact release date. Furthermore, the actors' strike is still effective which is why it's yet uncertain when season 4 of the beloved show will actually be produced.
On the bright side, Netflix might already be developing the script for the fourth installment since the WGA strike is over and writers may go back to working. Besides, as they have much more time to write the new season now, they might as well listen to fans' grievances regarding the subpar third season and fix them. For one thing, it would be perfect if they stopped treating Bill as the ultimate scapegoat – just saying…
