Is Wolf Pack Actually Worth Watching for Teen Wolf Fans?
Fan-favorite Teen Wolf series concluded almost six years ago, and its creators recently decided to surprise the show’s fans, releasing a spin-off movie earlier this year.
And what’s more, there’s another werewolf show, also created by Jeff Davis, on Paramount Plus. Coming from the man who produced Teen Wolf, Wolf Pack was expected to resemble the beloved werewolf teen drama — but surprisingly, it doesn’t. And many fans are wondering if it’s worth watching at all.
Those who have seen both shows certainly know that, apart from Jeff Davis and the werewolf theme, there’s nothing else in common between the two series.
But since Teen Wolf has set such a powerful precedent for werewolf teen dramas, fans are still hoping that Wolf Pack could meet the high standards and provide a much-needed scratch for that werewolf series itch.
So if you’re set to watch Jeff Davis’ new show, there are two possible outcomes. If you’re hungry for more Teen Wolf content, you most probably won’t like Wolf Pack at all — you’ll soon find that the new show’s characters are bland types of certain personalities to check the box, and the plot is likewise trivial and lacking humor in the style of Teen Wolf’s Stiles Stilinski. The series’ CGI doesn’t offer much to impress you either.
“Wolf Pack’s first episode started [out] interesting, but the writing gets very mediocre after that. I guess, for now it has slight Teen Wolf vibes, without the benefit of nostalgia or likable characters,” Redditor lupifers shared their verdict.
The writing seems to be the stumbling stone for viewers, as many say they couldn’t get even through the first episode. And old fans readily blame it on Jeff Davis who, according to them, has never been a good writer, and it’s surprising that Paramount took another show of his.
Wolf Pack is actually based on Edo van Belkom’s series of novels of the same name, so it has very little space to change and develop its plot according to Teen Wolf fans’ expectations — and it doesn’t have to, really.
On the other hand, if you are more open-minded and willing to take a gulp of fresh werewolf content, you may find that Wolf Pack has something to offer. There are other, less demanding viewers who praise the new show’s relatable characters and captivating cliffhangers — so perhaps it’s worth giving a try.
Apart from the new show being completely different from Teen Wolf, there are other factors that might cloud old fans’ perception of Wolf Pack. First and foremost, it’s the audience’s age. Both shows are targeted at teen viewers, so if you’re no longer an adolescent, chances are you won’t find the new show very appealing.
