More often than not shows don’t pay much attention to side characters and their stories.

So sometimes they just disappear without any proper explanation. It is worse when some characters are so good you wish there were more of them on the show.

Appearing at the beginning of Young Sheldon’s season 2 as Georgie’s love interest, Veronica had a pretty interesting character arc. We witness her “evolution” from a somewhat lustful high-schooler into a devout Christian as Georgie is unsuccessfully trying to have his way with her.

He then learns to respect her boundaries and, while wooing her, shows a tender and caring side that we've never seen before. No wonder fans of the show are wondering if she's ever going to return to the sitcom, given her disappearance after season 3.

As Georgie moves on from Veronica in season 3 and starts dating Jana, Veronica’s time on Young Sheldon may seem to be running out. But Georgie’s new girlfriend isn’t as interesting. Even in his own eyes, Jana is plain compared to Veronica. Besides, they don’t have much common history together. Georgie isn’t tender and affectionate with her at all, let alone in love with her.

To this day, the scene between Georgie and Veronica, when he approaches her to ask if she minds him seeing other girls and she assures him that she doesn't, but keeps looking at the candy necklace Georgie once gave her, is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The deep feelings the two characters have for each other make it even stranger that she should never show up in his life again.

“It's a shame since that plot point always felt unresolved. Also she and Georgie had much better chemistry than the girl he dated after,” one Redditor wrote.

Nevertheless, it seems unlikely that Veronica is ever going to make a comeback on Young Sheldon. During the last three seasons without the character, there have been plenty of opportunities for the writers to introduce her to the plot again.

As Veronica takes her faith very seriously, it’s only weird that she isn’t in any subsequent church scene, especially in the one where Mary is ousted from the church, given that it was Mary who brought Veronica under the wing of God.

Many people think that Veronica has no place in the story now that Georgie has a baby. He's completely moved on and has other concerns in life. It would feel far-fetched if the writers decided to revive his and Veronica's failed romance.

Practically speaking, Isabel May who portrayed Veronica has had bigger roles since her guest-starring on Young Sheldon. For example, she played Elsa Dutton in Yellowstone’s prequel 1883 and narrated 1923 as well. Sadly, Veronica’s appearance in the sitcom is wishful thinking. It would have been nice though if her character hadn’t been left out from the show.
