Is There a Chance Young Royals Season 3 Will Be Released in 2023?
Chances are very slim, and fans aren't hopeful.
Other than the return of the core cast, not much is known about the upcoming Young Royals Season 3. Netflix is keeping any details about the new chapter of the beloved Swedish teen drama under wraps, which is starting to get uncomfortable for fans who binge-watched the previous season last November and were hoping to get more royal drama this fall.
Production on the season began in April of this year, and according to Edvin Ryding and Omar Rudberg's social media, as well as other cast members, filming ended on June 27, 2023. This certainly gives the creators enough time for post-production and a fall release. However, Young Royals fans do not seem to be optimistic.
Season 3 is likely to air next year
While there is still hope for a fall premiere, Young Royals fans don't think it will happen.
'ZERO chance S3 is released during the very busy, bigger-budget, mega-star Nov-Dec Christmas season for streaming movies and series,' a fan wrote on Reddit to the agreement of others.
Fans have calculated that if Season 2 wrapped filming in May 2022 and took nearly six months to premiere, the new season will likely be ready to air in December. However, December is already jam-packed with the rumored release of The Crown Season 6, Bridgerton Season 3, and holiday content, which pushes the Young Royals Season 3 release to January/February 2023.
Also, the previous release pattern shows that the new season will likely have the first of the month premiere. And since promotion in the second half of December and the beginning of the year is a tough business, fans are looking at February 1 as the earliest possible premiere date.
Could the Hollywood strikes affect the Season 3 premiere?
While the cast and crew of Young Royals are Swedish and not members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA unions, the ongoing Hollywood strikes could still affect the show by forcing Netflix to ration new anticipated content. This could further delay the Season 3 release, pushing it to March 2024 or later.
