The creator weighs in.

In the more than four years it's been on the air, Eric Kripke's The Boys, based on the popular comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has managed to take modern pop culture by storm and change the way we look at the superhero genre.

The series is not afraid to use its R-rating to its full potential, showing the dark side of the world where supes are corrupted by fame, power, and impunity. While brutal and shocking, graphic violence and gore imaginary help to give deep social commentary and mirror the wretched underbelly of the world we live in.

When will Season 4 premiere?

When The Boys landed its Season 3 finale on Prime Video in July 2022, viewers already knew it wouldn't be the last time they'd see the Seven and the Boys. Amazon had renewed the series for Season 4 a month earlier.

Production on the season kicked off almost immediately, with filming beginning in August 2022 and ending in April 2023. The creators and the platform were likely aiming for a shorter wait between seasons, but the Hollywood strikes broke out and the premiere was delayed.

Now that the writers have signed the deal with the major studios and the actors will hopefully do the same in the near future, the final touches can be put on Season 4. And although Amazon is not giving an exact premiere date, the new installment is widely expected to arrive in 2024.

Will Season 4 be the last?

The stakes in the confrontation between the Boys and Homelander are getting higher and higher. Many fans are curious what the new season brings to the table and whether it will feature the final grand battle.

Well, we can answer that. While Amazon is in no hurry to officially renew the series, creator Eric Kripke seems certain about its future. The showrunner wrote on X (Twitter) earlier this year during the filming process that the Season 4 finale will certainly not be the last episode of the entire series.

‘I'm here to prep & direct the Season 4 finale. No, not the series finale, there will be more!’ Kripke wrote in the tweet.

It looks like we are in for a lot more aw-dropping, ultra-bloody and ultra-hilarious stories set in the Vought-controlled universe. Brace yourselves.
