The actress behind Audrey shared her view on the matter quite some time ago.

It's been a couple of days since the premiere of season 4 of All Creatures Great and Small in the UK. Naturally, fans are most excited about their beloved show, exploring the lives of Skeldale House's many inhabitants.

Debuting in 2020, the Channel 5 show proved to be an instant hit, attracting audiences worldwide. Based on James Herriot's novel cycle of the same name, All Creatures Great and Small follows three Yorkshire vets as they navigate their professional and personal lives before and during WWII.

Siegfried Farnon, the chief veterinarian, is in the center of attention in season 4. Viewers are specifically interested in his relationship with the house's manager, Mrs. Hall. Consequently, many feel that a romance is imminent.

A Precarious Situation

Portrayed by Anna Madeley, Mrs. Hall has been an integral part of All Creatures Great and Small since its inception. Hired by Siegfried (Samuel West) to take care of Skeldale House, she eventually became his best friend and confidante. As a result, many viewers may have thought that there would be some kind of love story, but nothing is that simple on ACGAS.

As of season 4, Mrs. Hall is technically still married. That puts her in a difficult position as to her relationship with Siegfried. As you might imagine, divorces were just becoming normalized at the time, so it would be a tough decision for her to make. Otherwise, any romance would be adultery, which isn't commendable either.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that Siegfried is Mrs. Hall's employer. However, fans and cast alike are most hopeful about the two characters' love arc.

What Does the Mrs. Hall Actress Say?

Given that the dynamic between Siegfried and Mrs. Hall has been palpably intense since season 1, the actors who portray them have often been asked about their characters' eventual romance. For example, Anna Madeley once said that it was not up to her to say whether there would be a love story.

'I hope so, but I don't completely know. Ultimately, that's a Ben Vanstone [the showrunner] question and he probably wouldn't give us the answer, would he?' the actress said in an interview. 'The relationship with Mr Farnon is so complex because there's so many layers to it, in that he employs her in the house, as well as that they have a real fondness for each other, and they are very good friends to one another.'

Perhaps, we'll learn it in future episodes of ACGAS season 4. Episode 2 is scheduled for October 12th.
