It seems the showrunner is finally going home.

In 2018, Netflix managed to snag one of its most prolific and popular showrunners, Ryan Murphy, who was tasked with creating a whole bunch of original content for the streaming service. The American Horror Story creator reportedly earned $300 million for signing the deal with Netflix. However, it appears the streaming giant has been somewhat disappointed with the results, seeing how shows like Hollywood and The Watcher turned out to be huge flops.

Nevertheless, with the success of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, many people believed that Murphy would stay with Netflix even after his five-year deal was up.

According to recent news, Murphy has decided to leave Netflix and join Disney Entertainment, a move that will reunite him with FX boss John Landgraf, who greenlit Murphy's most prominent series back in the day, including AHS, Pose, and Feud. With Disney having acquired FX some time ago, it seems Murphy will once again become the network's biggest star, giving more thought to future seasons of AHS. But that's not all.

Since Disney already purchased 21st Century Fox and renamed it Fox Corporation, the company now owns the rights to one of the biggest hits Murphy ever created - Glee. And the fact that Murphy is leaving Netflix to work with Disney can only mean one thing - a Glee reboot is on its way.

However, some fans are not fond of the idea, arguing that the original Glee was a complete nightmare for the geek community, exploiting people's interests only to take advantage of and mock them.

‘I watched the whole first season of the show thinking it was satirical and self-aware. A couple episodes into season 2 and I realised I was so wrong,’ a fan said.

Moreover, given that most of Murphy's output during his Netflix deal and the last few seasons of AHS have been rather dull, it's beginning to seem like the creator may just be running out of steam.

‘He gave Netflix some of the most dull, boring, and exploitative work on their platform (and that’s saying something) and I’m confident he’ll continue to do that elsewhere,’ another fan noted.
