Is Rebecca Actually Pregnant on Ted Lasso? Here's What We Know
A bombshell was dropped in Season 3 of Ted Lasso in the form of a psychic reading.
Was the psychic reading true - is Rebecca pregnant? And just as importantly: Does Rebecca believe the psychic?
Early in the season, Rebecca's mother said that her psychic, Tish, was 'considering' allowing Rebecca to see her. Rebecca mocked this, not one to believe in the power of psychics.
But by Episode 3, she came around.
When she decides to meet with the psychic, Tish tells her that Rebecca's mother, too, was once a skeptic. Tish begins to give her a reading, some of which was surprisingly accurate.
'The dark soul of one man just disconnected you from your own,' Tish said, referring to Rebecca's vile ex-husband, Rupert. 'Then another beautiful worthy soul of a man half your age arrived exactly at the right time.'
That's exactly what's been happening with Rebecca's love affair with 21-year-old footballer Sam. Spooky, right?
As it turns out - not really. We later find out that Rebecca's mother told Tish this information.
Then Tish starts giving out information about Rebecca's future, and slowly, things start coming true.
She says that she sees a green matchbook in her hand, she hears the words 'Shite in nining armor.' Tish hears thunder and lightning, Rebecca is upside down, and she's safe.
'You will have a family,' Tish finally says. 'You're going to be a mother.'
Rebecca always wanted to be a mother, to have a child of her own. Rupert never wanted that for them, but now he has an infant with his much younger partner, Bex.
'You're f---ing cruel,' Rebecca says to Tish before storming off.
Now theories persist - will she have a child? Is she pregnant now? A few of Tish's premonitions have since come true. She was given a green matchbook by Sam to commemorate the opening of his restaurant. She bumps into John Wingsnight - a Season 2 ex - whose new fiance calls John her 'Shite in nining armor.'
In Episode 5, Rebecca gives in and goes to a fertility clinic and finds out that, in her late forties, she indeed cannot have children. That should prove the psychic is wrong, right?
She wants to be a mother. She wants the prediction to come true. She's been looking for signs to prove Tish's psychic power because she wants a child so badly. So will she turn to adoption? Will this be a self-fulfilling prophecy? Or is this another twist and false road from Ted Lasso, a show that's thrived on subverting expectations?
Only time can tell. Ted Lasso streams on Apple TV each Wednesday.
