Fans are a little concerned that the spin-off is sidelining the upcoming third season.

Netflix's romantic series Bridgerton has already become a cult hit for the streaming giant, as fans have loved the adaptation of Julia Quinn's novels since the first season premiered in 2020.

When the second installment of the fictional Regency-era saga broke multiple viewership records, Netflix producers realized they had a real hit franchise on their hands and developed a spin-off series focusing on Queen Charlotte's younger years.

With the limited prequel set to appear on the streaming service in the near future, Bridgerton's fandom is both excited and concerned, as many feel that the spin-off gets in the way of the third season of the main series.

While all the trailers for Queen Charlotte showcase great interaction between the cast, impressive production design, and a believable plot for the beloved heroine, fans can't help but be annoyed at how much attention Netflix is giving to the spin-off, despite the fact that season three of Bridgerton has already been filmed and is ready to be advertised.

Fans admit that while the prospect of seeing Queen Charlotte in early May is pretty exciting, they still dislike the series beforehand, and for one reason only — it's delaying the release of season three.

People are pretty sure that if Netflix hadn't decided to release the spin-off, season three would have premiered much earlier, possibly as early as May this year. And this gets fans very upset, as everyone agrees that seeing Penelope and Colin's relationship story develop is more interesting and anticipated than witnessing Queen Charlotte's first years in the royal court.

Another major problem facing Queen Charlotte is fans’ disapproval of the way the series treats real historical figures. The thing is, while the main series is based on fictional people and stories, the spin-off has real historical figures as protagonists, and viewers are worried that the series’ writers aren’t particularly interested in maintaining historical accuracy.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will arrive on Netflix on May 4, 2023.
