Is Paige Really Leaving Virgin River in Season 5?
The character is ready to move on.
Since 2019, Netflix's Virgin River has proven to be the best melodrama in the streaming service's library. And even though the last installment was a bit disappointing for some fans, the newly released Season 5 managed to put that notion to rest, giving the audience one of the most exciting premiere episodes in recent memory.
However, it looks like at least one thing has ruined viewers' expectations for Season 5 — Paige's departure from the story.
The character was first introduced all the way back in 2019, when she was still married to her abusive husband Wes who tormented her on a daily basis. However, Paige was finally able to stand up for herself in Season 2, killing Wes and leaving town to hide.
Unfortunately, Wes' twin brother Vince kidnapped her son Chrisopher and demanded that she leave with him.
New Developments
At the end of Season 4, Preacher decided to save Paige from this violent man and confronted him in the remote cabin. Luckily, he was able to knock Vince out and call Mike for help, who arrested Vince for kidnapping while refusing to believe that it was Paige who killed Wes.
As a result, Paige was finally free to start her life over in Virgin River since she had nothing to hide from in Season 5. That's why it is surprising that the writers decided to get rid of the character for no apparent reason, making Paige leave the town after Episode 1 to build a better life for herself and her family elsewhere.
Nowhere to Be Been
Sadly, it looks like Virgin River creators are not playing around with Paige's exit, as actress Lexa Doig is not scheduled to appear in any episodes of the new season, meaning that her departure from the show has been confirmed. And while most fans lamented Paige's sudden disappearance, some were actually happy to see her go, saying that she had already spent quite a bit of time in the spotlight.
'So, Preach breaks up with Julia and then Paige breaks up with Preach? Make it make sense! Bye, Paige! I am so glad she is leaving,' a fan said.
