The fan-favourite actress left the show last season.

Since 2014, Starz's Outlander has been one of the most popular shows on the air, captivating fans with its beautiful cinematography, compelling time-travel twists, and the central romance between Jamie and Claire. However, there's no denying that the show's quality declined slightly when the lovers journeyed to America, as the narrative began to resemble a soap opera more than ever before. This decline was further exacerbated when the writers got rid of some of the best new characters.

While there have been many interesting additions to the cast since the show's inception, it's undeniable that Marsali Fraser and her husband, Fergus, were among the best-written and best-acted. Fans adored this couple, so the decision by the writers to send them away at the end of Season 6 was a major blow to the fandom.

Runaway Success

Although Marsali and Fergus were relatively minor characters in Diana Gabaldon's original novels, fans loved Lauren Lyle and César Domboy's performances so much that the writers felt compelled to keep them around far longer than initially planned.

However, this didn't prevent the writers from sending Marsali and Fergus away from the main characters in search of a better life at the end of Season 6, concluding the arc for these beloved characters. But will Marsali return in the second half of Season 7?

Actress Ready To Come Back

Regrettably, it appears that Lyle won't be reprising her role as Marsali in the second half of the current season, as her character's storyline seems to have officially ended. However, in a recent interview, the actress revealed that she would drop everything to return to her role as Marsali if asked, suggesting that we might see her again in the upcoming Season 8.

'I love Marsali. She was the character that changed my life. I feel like I've grown up on the show a little bit and I deeply love everyone on it, and I love the production, and I love our little family of four children that we have at the age of like twenty-something, and how we just pop them out seamlessly, and it's just wonderful,' Lyle said.
