Is Kim Kardashian's Acting in American Horror Story Really That Bad?

American Horror Story's significant drop in quality over the recent years is no secret, with the latest seasons marred by substandard acting, poor writing, and uninspired plots. Ryan Murphy appears to be aware of this, seeing how he's decided to bring back Emma Roberts to spearhead the show in a bid to reassure devoted fans that Season 12 will be more in line with the early seasons of the series. However, it seems the creators have made a huge mistake by casting Kim Kardashian in a pivotal role.

The recently released trailer for the new season offered fans a first glimpse of Kim's acting, and it appears that the reality star's performance failed to impress.

Lack Of Talent

While Roberts was absolutely riveting as a young actress willing to do anything to get pregnant, the same cannot be said for Kim. She seemed no different from her reality show persona, making no effort to display any emotion or match the high bar set by Roberts.

'It doesn’t even seem like she’s acting. She sounds the exact same as she does on their show. Zero emotion in her voice,' a fan said.

Fans already seem convinced that Kim's lack of talent will mar the upcoming season. Even though many will undoubtedly tune in to the first episode to see Kim's debut on the show, it's likely that most will abandon the series after a couple of episodes.

'I used to love American horror story but I haven't watched it in a few years, I tried to get back into the show last fall but with the mediocre at best acting, terrible writing, and plotless storylines it really hasn't been worth watching. This one looks like no exception; Emma is carrying this season on her back,' another fan noted.

Unlikely Support

However, some fans were surprisingly pleased with Kim's acting, suggesting that her character's dubious morals are actually a natural fit for Kim!

'It suits her. They really chose well. It is believable looking at the harshness on her face,' a fan argued.

We'll have to wait until the Season 12 premiere on 20 September to find out whether Kim excels or fails at acting.
