As if we needed Benedict Bridgerton to get any sexier.

For many people, speaking a foreign language can be a real turn-on — especially if the language sounds pleasing to the ear. And probably the most widely accepted language of love and romance is none other than French.

Even when talking about everyday things like food and housework, French creates that rich and melodic sound that will bring out the deepest romantic feelings in you. Have you even noticed that?

Do you agree that French sounds sexy?

Why are we talking about French so much? The reason is our beloved Benedict Bridgerton actor, Luke Thompson. Since Season 1, Benedict has been a favorite Bridgerton brother for many fans. He is creative, artistic, sensitive, open to new experiences and a bit lost. Just the type that many viewers find attractive and interesting to puzzle out.

And now we know what makes Benedict such a compelling and enigmatic character. There's a lot of Luke Thompson in him. And Luke is bilingual.

Luke Thompson was raised in France

When he was two years old, Luke moved to France with his English parents and two siblings. He grew up in the Paris suburb of Fontainebleau and only returned to London at the age of 20 to study acting at the University of Bristol and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Growing up English in France and then returning has given the actor that almost imperceptible touch of exoticism that makes him so interesting to watch on screen.

'I've sort of always been stuck between both countries,' Luke Thompson told Rob Brydon recently. 'When I moved back over here, it was sort of strange because my parents are English but I didn't have any of the cultural references [...] I remember coming over and feeling slightly blank in English.'

Luke never had an accent when he spoke English, but he felt a certain alienation from the language. Now that the actor has lived in London for over ten years, that has changed, of course, and English is like a home language to him. But Thompson still feels stuck between two languages and the mindsets they bring.

Well, now that we know why Benedict Bridgerton is so captivating on screen, we can only hope that his solo season will be the next and come to our screens as soon as possible. And who knows, perhaps we'll get to see Benedict speak French. For now, you can watch Luke Thompson do it:
