Fans are not sure if the iconic reality show is true to life.

When Bravo premiered Below Deck in 2013, no one expected it to become one of the most successful reality series of the decade, spawning three spin-offs and still drawing millions of viewers to their screens. The show achieved this popularity thanks to its unique premise, the crazy chemistry between its cast — the crew working aboard a luxurious superyacht — and the sheer amount of drama that make Below Deck so compelling to watch.

But is Below Deck's famous drama actually unscripted?

Over the past 10 seasons of the show, viewers have been treated to a number of interesting drama scenarios, including co-workers getting together, guests causing scandals, and even fires aboard superyachts. While all of these things have delighted fans and made watching each new episode a rewarding and memorable experience, people are still concerned that Bravo might be scripting their hit series instead of showing them a real deal.

Fortunately, we have Captain Lee Rosbach here to debunk these rumors. The legendary captain who's been the face of Below Deck since its inception has shed some light on the behind-the-scenes process of the reality show.

'It's a pretty accurate snapshot. What happens happens, and it's all caught on film. Some people may disagree with that assessment, but you've always got drama on board a boat,' Rosbach explained. 'Any time you get people that are living and working together in that close proximity, you're going to have issues and things are going to happen, and drama's going to ensue. It's been that way in yachting for years, long before the series came around.'

So if Captain Lee is to be believed, the main reason the Bravo show became such a drama fest is because the producers decided to set the reality on board a yacht, as this setting has been a ripe place for comedic and emotional scenarios since the beginning of this industry.

As far as we know, Bravo's creators do not interfere with the production of the show since the contestants themselves are more than willing to create drama on their own.
