These shows will have you hooked in no time.

Probably the main reason we love thrillers is that they spice up our seemingly boring lives and give us emotions we wouldn't otherwise get. Nail-biting suspense is the best example of this. And if that's what you're looking for in a show, these five Amazon Prime series are for you.

The Consultant (2023, 1 season, 6.5 on IMDb)

Adapted from Bentley Little's novel of the same name, this thriller series follows the employees of a mobile gaming company, taken over by Christoph Waltz's Regus Patoff, a mysterious and sinister consultant which comes to its rescue after the murder of their CEO. Although Patoff appears to be helping the company, it soon becomes clear that he has ulterior motives. And his presence at the company has a detrimental effect on the employees.

Three Pines (2022, 1 season, 7.2 on IMDb)

Based on Louise Penny's series of novels featuring Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, this crime show follows the inspector as he investigates several murders in the fictional titular town. Armed with a keen intellect that helps him see the extraordinary in the seemingly normal, Gamache solves the cases while also investigating the disappearance of a young woman – a storyline entirely unique to the show.

Hunters (2020-2023, 2 seasons, 7.2 on IMDb)

Inspired by the stories of many real-life Nazi hunters, this show is set in New York in 1977 and centers on a group of American Nazi hunters who learn that several Nazi officers escaped to the US after World War II and are now plotting to create the Fourth Reich in the United States. While trying to foil the plans, the characters discover that the American government has employed many former Nazi leaders to advance military science in what has been secretly dubbed Operation Paperclip.

The Man in the High Castle (2015-2019, 4 seasons, 7.9 on IMDb)

Adapted from Philip K. Dick's novel of the same name, this dystopian drama tells the story of the world in which the Axis powers won World War II and spread their rule across the globe. The United States was divided between the victors, with a narrow neutral zone left in between. Two decades after the war, a new generation of Americans tries to overthrow the oppressive regimes with only a collection of films showing the victory of the Allies.

Jack Ryan (2018-2023, 4 seasons, 8.0 on IMDb)

Based on Tom Clancy's Ryanverse, this modernized political action thriller follows the title character, a CIA analyst, on his various dangerous missions. Over the course of the show's four-season run, Jack Ryan deals with the rise of Islamic extremism, political chaos in Venezuela, a plot to reunite the Soviet Union, and the conspiracy of a drug cartel and terrorist organization to destroy the United States.
