Young Bleed, the Baton Rouge rap veteran behind How You Do That, has died at 51 after a brain aneurysm, TMZ reports. Born Glenn Clifton Jr., he had just performed at the Cash Money Verzuz No Limit event at ComplexCon.

Some tough news out of Baton Rouge. Young Bleed, the rapper behind the regional classic 'How You Do That,' has died at 51 after being hospitalized for a brain aneurysm. TMZ first reported it. He had just hit the stage at the Cash Money Verzuz No Limit show at ComplexCon days before everything happened.

What happened

Bleed — real name Glenn Clifton Jr. — was taken to the hospital a few days ago after doctors found a brain aneurysm. According to Tameka Long (aka Madamm Meek), the mother of his 10-year-old son, he had been dealing with high blood pressure and a heart condition. Earlier in the week she told TMZ that he was showing some stability and that his vitals looked OK, and the family was hopeful he would pull through.

His son, Ty'Gee Ramon, announced the news on Instagram on Saturday, November 1, calling it 'unreal' and saying his father had 'gained angel's wings.' He also noted that his dad was rarely in the hospital aside from the blood pressure issue.

"Rip to the biggest legend I kno…. Young bleed!!! Love u Dad so much and will definitely miss u… but imma carry the torch from here I got u #youngbleed #mydad # #myfather @therealyoungbleed I’m glad he went out in style!!!! One time fa the one time."

Family asked for space amid bad info

In the middle of all this, Bleed's younger sister, Tedra Johnson-Spears, posted on Facebook asking for privacy after false reports started flying online. She asked fans not to call or text their mom or other family members. Bleed's mother also said his hospitalization came out of nowhere and started a GoFundMe to help.

About Tameka Long

Long is the president of Bleed's label, Trap Door Entertainment. She is also credited as an actor and recording artist, with 'Faces of Rap Mother' listed among her credits. She and Bleed share a 10-year-old son. Ramon's post and other reports indicate he has four other siblings as well, though details on Bleed's other children are not public. For what it is worth, Long's Facebook lists her as divorced.

He had just been on stage with No Limit and Cash Money

Right before his hospitalization, Bleed performed at the Cash Money Verzuz No Limit event at ComplexCon — the kind of nostalgia lineup that gets talked about for years. After word got out about his condition, Master P posted on Instagram saying he and Snoop Dogg loved the company that night and asked fans to pray for Bleed. Tributes are now pouring in from around the scene.
