Inside Kendall Jenner's Rift With Caitlyn Jenner: The Real Reason Behind the Tension
Caitlyn Jenner’s surprise drop-in on The Kardashians Season 7 turned an awkward reunion into a rare tender moment — and pushed Kendall to open up about where she stands with her dad.
Well, that was unexpected. The latest episode of The Kardashians (Season 7) turned into a family reunion when Caitlyn Jenner popped up at Kris Jenner's Hidden Hills house without any advance warning. It started a little stiff, then settled into something surprisingly warm. And because this show can never resist a curveball, Kim set off a separate debate about the moon landing. Sure, why not.
The surprise at El Dorado Meadow
Kris is getting ready to put her longtime Hidden Hills place — El Dorado Meadow — on the market in February. So she pulled the family together to say goodbye to the house. In the middle of that, she decided one person was missing: her ex.
"About an hour ago, I called Caitlyn and I said, 'What are you doing?' And of course, she said, 'I'm eating dinner and watching Fox News.' I said, 'Of course you are.' And, I said, 'Would you like to come say goodbye to El Dorado Meadow with us and be with your kids?' And she said, 'I'm on my way.'"
Caitlyn walked in, and Kris reminded everyone that they originally bought this place so Kendall and Kylie could grow up there. The mood was awkward for a beat, then the night turned into a pretty normal dinner: talking, photos, a little nostalgia. Before Caitlyn headed out, Kris said how right it felt to have her there — the house belonged to both of them, and she was part of the memories. For what it’s worth, Kris and Caitlyn were married in 1991, separated in 2014, and finalized their divorce in 2015, so this was a meaningful full-circle moment.
Kendall on having Caitlyn there
Kendall did not see this coming. She said she genuinely didn’t expect her dad to show up, mostly because her parents’ relationship isn’t hostile, just distant, and her mom has been hesitant about inviting Caitlyn to family events in the past. So the fact that Kris extended the invite without Kendall or Kylie asking meant a lot.
She also admitted her relationship with Caitlyn is good but can get frustrating because they don’t always see the world the same way. Still, Kendall wants her included. She knows Caitlyn can get lonely and feels like family should be around — and on this night, she was glad her dad was.
Why Caitlyn now?
Kris said it was simple: this was a goodbye to a home that held years of highs, lows, and everything in between, and Caitlyn is part of that story. The exes buying the house for their daughters to grow up in is a piece of family history you can’t really edit out. Inviting her was a last-minute call that turned out to be the right one.
Meanwhile, Kim stirs up the moon again
Different corner of the episode: Kim Kardashian told her All's Fair co-star Sarah Paulson that she doesn’t think Apollo 11 — the 1969 moon landing — actually happened. Apparently she sends Sarah this kind of conspiracy video all the time. Later, when a producer asked point-blank if she believed astronauts ever made it to the moon, Kim said no, calling it fake.
NASA acting administrator Sean Duffy jumped onto X to reassure her (and everyone else) that, yes, Americans really did land on the moon. Naturally, the internet split into the usual camps — some people nodding along with Kim, others rolling their eyes. Not exactly a small swing to take on national TV.
New episodes of The Kardashians drop Thursdays on Hulu.
