Inside Escape From Tarkov’s Roadmap: Every Big Update Coming—and a Possible Console Release
After years in the trenches, Escape from Tarkov officially launched in November 2025—and Battlestate Games is just getting started, promising a long-term roadmap of fresh content and sweeping gameplay overhauls under COO and lead developer Nikita Buyanov.
Escape from Tarkov finally went 1.0 in November 2025 after years of living in early access limbo. And instead of kicking their feet up, Battlestate Games is doubling down. Lead developer and COO Nikita Buyanov has been talking up big, long-term plans on streams and Q&As, and there is a lot on the board.

So what is actually coming?
Short version: more of everything, and not just tweaks. Buyanov has been steadily outlining where Tarkov goes next, and it is not a small list. The studio had once floated building other games in the Tarkov universe, but after the game blew up, they pivoted to pour that energy back into Tarkov itself. Probably the right call.
- More endings: The game recently added four full endings tied to quest completion, and Battlestate wants to keep expanding that. If you like the idea of Tarkov having actual narrative payoff, this continues.
- Kolotun winter event: A seasonal Christmas/New Year event themed around the cold. You will need to find fire to stay warm, which is a neat survival twist. Buyanov has also teased something called an Atomic Icebreaker showing up with it.
- SCAV Life and a Woods expansion: Both are in the works. SCAV Life has been name-dropped by Buyanov, and Woods is getting bigger.
- Modding support for PvE: Modding tools for the PvE side are in the pipeline, which could be a huge deal for longevity.
- Console version: Yes, they are actively developing it.
- Graphical overhaul: A top-to-bottom visual pass is planned to modernize the look.
- Long runway: Per Buyanov, they have content lined up for the next decade. Ambitious, but if they hit even most of this, Tarkov is going to feel very different in a few years.
Big picture, that is enough to keep Tarkov competitive with other extraction shooters circling the space, like ARC Raiders. But as always, it comes down to execution.
And what about Russia 2028?
Battlestate is not a one-idea studio on paper. They have long talked about a single-player game called Russia 2028, set in the same universe as Tarkov. The project was first shared 11 years ago, and concept art is still sitting on Buyanov's ArtStation. The honest read: progress has been slow, and with the team busy expanding Tarkov's story and systems, it is anyone's guess when Russia 2028 actually becomes a thing. If it does, do not expect it soon.
The takeaway
Tarkov is out of early access, but Battlestate is treating launch like a starting line, not the finish. More endings, a proper winter event with survival mechanics, new modes and map expansions, modding for PvE, a console build, and a visual overhaul — all under a promised 10-year content plan. If they stick the landing, Tarkov stays the pace-setter. If not, well, there is no shortage of challengers waiting.
Think Russia 2028 ever sees daylight, or is Tarkov the whole show for the foreseeable future?
