Season 4 is in the books, and the fate of HBO’s Industry is on the line—will Season 5 get the green light or the axe? Here’s where things stand right now.

Good news, bad news time: HBO is bringing Industry back for one more season, and that one more season will be the last. Five and out. Honestly, for a high-anxiety finance drama, that feels like the right lap count.

So, is Season 5 happening?

Yes. HBO has officially renewed Industry for Season 5, and it will serve as the series finale. The renewal comes right on the heels of the Season 4 closer, which kicked off a lot of speculation about where the show was headed. Now we know: to an end, but on its own terms.

What the creators are saying

Co-creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay marked the news with a very appreciative statement about the network and the partners who kept the show afloat for five seasons at a place that does not hand out long runs lightly.

Quote of note: "We are privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO."

They also singled out a long list of champions behind the scenes — yes, by first name — and made a special point of crediting producer Jane Tranter and her team: "Without Jane Tranter's imagination and belief, the show would simply be a dead idea in a drawer somewhere." They thanked the BBC for backing the series as well.

The numbers are up

Industry has steadily grown season over season. The fourth season averaged 1.7 million viewers per episode across all platforms in the U.S., which is roughly 30% higher than Season 3. Momentum into a final season is not a bad place to be.
