I'm Rebuying Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Switch 2 Just to Score the Free Magic: The Gathering Booster Pack

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is hitting Switch 2—grab the Day One Edition fast to score an MTG Final Fantasy play booster pack.
Square Enix is sliding Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade onto Nintendo Switch 2 early next year, and the preorder bonus is not what I expected. If you like your RPGs with a side of cardboard crack, read on.
What was announced
During the latest Nintendo Direct, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade hits Switch 2 on January 22, 2026. This is the 2020 remake package with the Episode INTERmission DLC starring Yuffie baked in, plus extra features like a photomode. Preorders are live now.
The weird-but-kind-of-great bonus
In the US, the physical Day One Edition on Switch 2 comes with a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Play Booster tucked into the box, while supplies last. Yes, a 14-card MTG pack in an FF7 game case. It is an unexpected crossover, but as a collectible, it is exactly the kind of thing that makes preorder brain kick in. On top of that, US preorders also include extra in-game summons like Chocobo Chick and Cactuar.
About that cartridge
Here is the catch: the physical copy includes a 'game key card' cart. The full game is not on the cartridge. You will still download roughly 87.9GB to play. That is not ideal for physical collectors, but it tracks with the hardware reality — Switch-family carts top out at 64GB. At least this is not a pure code-in-a-box; you do get an actual cart to pop in, it just unlocks the big digital install. For comparison, first-party Switch 2 titles like Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World are shipping fully on cart.
