The Wednesday star finally addresses the internet buzz about his marriage and Jenna Ortega—and what he reveals will shut down the gossip for good.

Because the internet cannot help itself, a wild rumor popped up about 'Wednesday' star Hunter Doohan skipping a big Season 2 event because his husband was jealous of Jenna Ortega. Doohan finally addressed it, and shocker: it is nonsense.

The rumor that would not die

Doohan, who plays Tyler Galpin opposite Jenna Ortega in Netflix's 'Wednesday,' talked through the whole mess on the podcast 'I've Never Said This Before With Tommy DiDario.' He said he has been wrestling with how much of his personal life to put out there, then got blunt about the two big theories flying around after he missed the London premiere in July:

'I saw one where Jenna didn't allow me to go, which is so not true.'

'There was a rumor that my husband didn't let me go because he is jealous of Jenna. I was like, You guys. Can we be so f----- for real right now?'

Why he actually skipped London

The simple answer: work. Doohan says he was in New Zealand shooting a movie when the London Season 2 premiere happened. He even posted that he wished he could be there. He did make it to a promotional stop in Sydney that he described as a 'part 2' event, but the London date just did not fit because he was on another set. Not exactly the stuff of a TikTok soap opera.

  • Not true: Jenna Ortega somehow blocked him from the event.
  • Not true: His husband, Fielder Jewett, forbid him from going out of jealousy.
  • True: He was in New Zealand filming a movie during the London premiere.
  • Also true: He made it to a Sydney event but could not do both.

Fans vs the algorithm

Doohan was quick to say in-person interactions with 'Wednesday' fans have been great, and most of what he sees online is positive. The problem, he says, is the cycle of random TikTok videos inventing personal drama about him, Ortega, Emma Myers, and other cast members. It is the usual social media game of telephone, just louder.

Quick refresher

If you need a memory jog: Doohan's Tyler starts as Wednesday's love interest in Season 1 and later becomes a threat to her. Given that arc, it is not surprising the fandom has Opinions, but the real-life jealousy storyline is, per Doohan, pure fiction.
