Hulu is loading up the week of October 13-19 with a mix of finales, returns, true-crime deep dives, and a Meg Ryan airport rom-com. The big headliner: 'Solar Opposites' drops its sixth and final season all at once. Yes, the one with the Pupa that will eventually devour its caretakers and terraform Earth. Showtime.
The highlights
Solar Opposites: Season 6 (final) — Lands Monday, October 13. Co-created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, the animated comedy about an alien family hiding out in middle America is back for its last lap, still juggling everyday human nonsense with the not-so-small matter of protecting the Pupa, a cute little world-ender on a slow burn. Hulu is putting up the complete season in one go.
Obituary: Season 2 — Arrives Tuesday, October 14. Ray Lawlor’s crime-comedy from Ireland returns, following Elvira, a young obituarist at a local paper who gets paid per piece. That pay structure goes about as badly as you’d fear: to keep the checks coming, she starts manufacturing material the worst way possible. Complication: there’s a crime reporter sniffing around... and she catches feelings for him.
Murdaugh: Death In The Family — First three episodes hit Wednesday, October 15. Directed by Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr, this docuseries zeroes in on Maggie and Alex Murdaugh, members of a powerful South Carolina legal dynasty living large until their son Paul is tied to a deadly boat crash. From there, the facade fractures and long-buried secrets spill out, linking the couple to a web of mysterious deaths and putting their entire world under a microscope.
What Happens Later (2023) — Drops Friday, October 17. A romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and David Duchovny as former flames forced into a reunion when they get stranded at a regional airport. If you want two pros trading wistful banter while time — and maybe baggage — catches up with them, this is that.
