Hulu is doubling down on The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, ordering two more seasons of Ben Bocquelet’s animated revival, which premiered in July with season 2 already on the way.

Hulu is all-in on Gumball. Right as Season 2 is about to hit, the streamer quietly locked down two more seasons of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball. If you were wondering whether this revival was a one-off nostalgia play, it isn’t.

What Hulu just greenlit

Hulu announced on Twitter/X that The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball is coming back for Seasons 3 and 4. No release dates yet. The timing is very on-brand: the renewal dropped alongside a cheeky Season 2 teaser that told fans to go hunting for Easter eggs. Classic Gumball mischief.

Quick refresher

This is the revival of Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball, created by Ben Bocquelet. The new series premiered on Hulu in July 2025 and has basically picked up the baton for U.S. streaming, while internationally the franchise still runs through Cartoon Network.

Season 2: what to expect, where to watch

Season 2 lands December 22, 2025 on Hulu — and it will also be available through Hulu on Disney+. The show is still proudly unhinged: the Wattersons keep treating reality like a loose suggestion, and Elmore is even more chaotic than last time. The official breakdown teases a promposal gone full theater kid (Penny fakes her own death), wild animals wreaking havoc in the suburbs, and a student coven trying to conjure a yearbook seance. So, yes, still wonderfully weird.

  • Renewed: Seasons 3 and 4 are officially ordered; dates TBD.
  • Season 2 premiere: December 22, 2025 on Hulu and with Hulu on Disney+.
  • Revival launch: Premiered July 2025 on Hulu in the U.S.
  • Behind the scenes: Created by Ben Bocquelet; key creative leads include Erik Fountain and Matt Layzell with the Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe team.
  • International footprint: Continues to roll out to Cartoon Network audiences outside the U.S.
  • Season 2 absurdities: Penny’s fake-death promposal; suburban wildlife pandemonium; a witchy student cult attempting a yearbook seance.

The suits are very happy

Vanessa Brookman, GM, International Kids, Animation and Franchise, said in a statement (shared with Televisual) that the show’s global pull made the renewal a no-brainer for the team that handles Cartoon Network outside the U.S.

"The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball has proven completely irresistible to families and fans across the globe, making it the easiest of decisions to say an emphatic yes to this new season."

Sarah Fell, SVP and Studio Head at Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, shouted out the creative crew — Bocquelet, Fountain, Layzell, and company — and gave longtime fans a reassuring nudge about the pace of new episodes.

"Gumball has been a massive success for the studio... I’m excited we get to deliver even more wonderful weirdness. Thankfully, this time fans won’t have to wait seven years."

Bottom line: Gumball’s revival isn’t just working — it’s scaling. Season 2 is days away, the next two seasons are locked, and the team sounds like they’re moving fast. I’ll update when Hulu nails down dates for Seasons 3 and 4.
