Investigation of the mysterious death, management of a hotel for spirits, and a strange bar for the living and the dead.

The other world is one of the most popular themes in the Korean drama industry. Almost every year, new mystical projects are released, and they all turn out to be very different.

We have chosen five bright and different K-dramas about ghosts and those who see them.

1. The Ghost Detective, 2018

Lee Da-il is a former soldier and now a private detective who accidentally starts to catch ghosts. He is supported by his young assistant Jung Yeo-wool, who has the ability to see ghosts.

She also joined the detective for personal reasons – to investigate the death of her younger sister. One day, Da-il meets a mysterious woman in red, who appears at crime scenes again and again, but only a few people see her.

2. Hotel Del Luna, 2019

Jang Man-wol committed a terrible sin in the past and has been serving her punishment for 1,000 years as the manager of a ghost hotel. Her job is to help restless souls complete important tasks before they go to heaven.

But lost in her despair and anger, Man-wol is reluctant to perform her duties. Until one day, a new administrator, Koo Chan-sung, arrives at the hotel – a young man who ended up in this ghostly place because of his father's promise.

3. Mystic Pop-up Bar, 2020

Mystic Pop-up Bar opens at midnight. Its doors are open to both the living and the dead. The bar's mysterious owner, Weol-ju, who is already several hundred years old, listens to the stories of her guests and, with the help of a special drink, penetrates their minds to solve problems and let go of pain.

She is assisted by the young and inexperienced Han Kang-bae, who can see ghosts, and another ghost – Chief Gwi. Each episode of the drama carries a small lesson, such as not noticing the opportunities that are opening up around us because we are too deeply immersed in our emotions.

4. Sell Your Haunted House, 2021

A girl with the ability to perform exorcisms named Ji-ah teams up with a clever swindler named In-beom to start a real estate agency. Now they exorcise ghosts from houses and then sell them. The partners meet various lost souls and their stories, and along the way they investigate the mysterious death of Ji-ah's mother.

The urban fantasy Sell Your Haunted House shows a great balance between drama and comedy, thanks to which even the saddest moments do not seem overly tragic.

5. The Guest, 2018

A demon named Guest possesses people, making them go insane and kill their families. Yoon Hwa-pyung, Choi Yoon and Kang Gil-young lost their families to him when they were children.

After 20 years, the demon returns and the characters unite to fight the evil spirit. But now they are no longer children, but a hereditary shaman, a Catholic priest and a detective.

This dark story immerses you in such a mystical atmosphere that you begin to believe in a world where ghosts live among people. It is also strengthened by the fact that the characters are shown as quite human: sometimes their actions cause anger or misunderstanding, but that makes them similar to real people.
