Hope Getting it On With Thomas Feels Like Ultimate Bold & Beautiful Betrayal
Viewers are ready to boycott B&B over the Hope/Thomas affair.
The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) may be older than some of its viewers, but for many, the recent episode in which Hope progressed beyond merely kissing Thomas to sleeping with him became a breaking point. Viewers turned to social media to vent their frustrations about the disgraceful Hope storyline and to declare that they, along with their mothers and grandmothers, the show's target demographic, were quitting watching the CBS soap opera in protest.
‘This was my first day of refusing to watch. It wasn't hard either. My mom said she doesn't want to see it anymore either, because Hope was the one character who acted like they had any sense of decency and now that's out the window, so she no longer cares,’ a viewer wrote on Reddit, voicing a sentiment shared by many other viewers.
What bugs people most about Hope jumping into Thomas's bed is that it feels like an ultimate betrayal not only of Liam and their marriage but also of herself. Having Hope fall for Thomas may advance his redemption arc, but it destroys Hope's character.
How could Hope have slept with the man who had obsessed over her and brought so much pain and misery into her and Liam's lives? How could she be with someone she shares a half-brother with? How could she have developed feelings for someone who made her believe her baby was dead?
‘My grandma said she's not going to watch anymore,’ a long-time viewer wrote on Reddit after the betrayal episode. ‘Mind you this is a woman that's watched the show for decades.’
The relationship between Hope and Thomas is so wrong and gross that viewers are willing to blacklist B&B if they continue their affair.
‘I think as women we should take a stand and boycott the show till they toss this storyline,’ a fan wrote.
It would appear that the B&B writers need to get back on track and explain why Hope would betray her husband and the fans like that. That is, of course, if they manage to come up with an explanation that at least somewhat clarifies what is going on on screen.
