People hate the new character.

HBO's Sex and The City was one of the defining shows of its era, launching Sarah Jessica Parker to superstardom, shattering the glass ceiling for single female representation, and influencing such hit shows as Girls and Insecure in the process.

And even though the two movie sequels proved to be huge disappointments for fans of the original show, HBO still pushed its luck by producing a sequel series, And Just Like That..., which follows the lives of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte in their 50s.

However, fans just couldn't care less about the main characters, as both the writing and the acting had become so stale that the once-beloved urbanites had become pale shadows of their former selves. In addition, the newly introduced supporting characters were given a much larger role for no apparent reason. Now in season two, the divisive character of Che Diaz is making fans feel quite strange about the ongoing second season.

Che was introduced as Carrie's boss, and fans were perfectly fine with them in that role, but the moment the writers decided to make them Miranda's love interest, people began to hate the character, arguing that they treated Miranda with such malice that it became impossible to care about her as them.

‘They treat Miranda like s--t, I can’t stand it. Miranda gets upset because Che is rejecting her touch - but Miranda isn’t allowed to be sad because Che has size trauma that must be addressed right now. They’re so self-centred and narcissistic. I really hope Miranda wakes up and realises how poorly she’s being treated,’ a fan said.

Obviously, people are not okay with a supporting character treating Miranda this way, arguing that she deserves someone more loving and urging the writers to either fix Che's attitude or get rid of them altogether.

‘I dislike them together too. Miranda has been neutered or something. She is spineless now and she used to be such a badass. Her character was such a great counterpoint to the others,’ another fan argued.

And Just Like That Season 2 Episode 4 will arrive on Max on 6 July 2023.
