  • The actor had an epiphany while doing a mundane activity.

Released from early October to early November, Season 2 of the popular Disney+ show Loki spanned a total of six episodes that concluded fourteen years of Tom Hiddleston's life and work portraying the titular character within the MCU.

Loki's magnificent finale cemented its reputation as the best Disney+ show. Debuting in 2021, it followed Hiddleston's character as he made his numerous journeys through time to save the world and, most importantly, the people he loved. As a result, Loki has grown into a fan-favorite character who happens to have more sides to him than the rest of Marvel's villains.

What's more, Loki's fate as portrayed on the show simply couldn't leave the audience unaffected. While this is largely due to the brilliant writing of the season, credit must also be given to Tom Hiddleston, as the character's final and most influential line was his creation.

The Genesis of Loki's Last Words

According to Tom Hiddleston, Aaron Moorhead, an executive producer on Loki's season, approached him during filming and offered to come up with something for the character to say as a farewell nod, even though the script for the final scene was already finished. Undeniably, the showrunner understood the significance of the moment for the actor.

'I left the stage, and I went out onto the lot at Pinewood Studios in London, in Buckinghamshire, and I went for a little jog just around the lot. You know, I love to run. It's where I do my best thinking. I was listening to some film scores, one of which was actually the score from Thor by Patrick Doyle. And I became overtaken by the significance of it being the last thing I was going to say and the length of this journey [of playing Loki], and how significant it's been for me and my life,' Hiddleston shared in an interview.

Apart from that, the Loki actor admitted that he was thinking about all the people who helped him create the beloved character and those who've supported him on this fourteen-year journey.

'And the line came to me. And I was like, "Oh, yeah, I know what I should say."' the actor elaborated. 'It goes like this, "I know what I want. I know what kind of god I need to be for you, for all of us,"' the actor added.
