Here's What It Will Take for Daniel Radcliffe to Reprise Harry Potter Role
It appears that the British actor is not ruling out the possibility of reprising the role that brought him fame.
Although Daniel Radcliffe has been quite active in recent years, starring in numerous film and television projects every year, and yet he's not been getting the same amount of attention as during his Harry Potter days.
Meanwhile, J. K. Rowling's franchise centred on the young wizard remains incredibly popular, and fans are eager to see Radcliffe return as the boy who lived. It seems that there is an ideal opportunity for this to happen.
Rowling's play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which follows the lives of Harry, Ron, and Hermione long after the events of the original book series, has met with immense success in London and New York theatres.
Hollywood producers now seem prepared to adapt it into a film.
Chris Columbus, the director of the first two Harry Potter movies, recently expressed interest in adapting the play and invited Radcliffe to take the lead.
However, Radcliffe doesn't seem the least bit interested in the idea, opting instead to explore new territory in his acting career rather than revisit his past roles. Nevertheless, this does not imply that Radcliffe will never reprise his iconic character, as his stance on the matter could change over time.
'It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then, I am sure Harrison Ford said that about Han Solo, and look what happened there! So, I am saying "no" for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future,' Radcliffe told Radio Times.
Nevertheless, given the recent official announcement that HBO Max plans to reimagine the entire Harry Potter story as a series with a new cast, fans speculate whether Radcliffe might reconsider his position. They argue that Radcliffe could make a brief cameo in the show or even portray an older character. Wouldn't that be absolutely fantastic?
