Here's How (and When) Heartstopper Comics Will End
Beloved romance is finite.
Alice Oseman's Heartstopper graphic novels were already a huge hit with teens before Netflix adapted them into a live-action show, but the streaming giant's push has certainly helped the young author become a superstar. With the show's second season exceeding all expectations, all eyes are on the upcoming Season 3. However, people who have never read the original comics are wondering how much story is left in the books for the show to cover.
So far, Oseman has published four volumes of Heartstopper comics, and the first three have already been adapted into the show. However, the author has no intention of saying goodbye to Nick and Charlie in the near future, and here's why.
Heartstopper Comics, Explained
Given how busy Oseman was writing for the show, she temporarily put the graphic novels on hold, but the two-year hiatus is almost over. On December 7, Hachette Children's Group will release Heartstopper Volume 5, something fans have been dreaming of for a long time. And the series won't end with this book.
Oseman has already confirmed that she is planning Heartstopper Volume 6, which will serve as an epilogue to the story and focus on Nick's senior year of high school. However, the author has not yet begun plotting the final graphic novel in the series, which means that fans will have to wait until 2025 or 2026 to find out how the story ends.
However, fandom already knows some of the details of Heartstopper's finale, as Oseman herself has detailed how the books will end.
Nick and Charlie forever?
According to the writer, she plans to wrap up Heartstopper's storyline with Nick leaving for university while Charlie still has a year of school ahead of him. Oseman never elaborated on the finale, keeping a secret about how Nick's departure will affect the boys' relationship.
And while the possibility of a heartbreaking finale is certainly there, fans are sure that Oseman will make the last volume of the series as sweet as possible, as Heartstopper has always been a comfortable and feel-good project, and it would be quite strange to change the mood in the final book.
