HBO Max Just Scored A24’s Best Movie of 2025 — Here’s When You Can Stream It

Warner Bros. has set the HBO Max debut for A24’s black-comedy Sorry, Baby, produced by Oscar winner Barry Jenkins—a razor-sharp tale of Agnes’s fallout and the friends who carry on without her.
Warner Bros. finally circled a date for A24's black comedy-drama 'Sorry, Baby' to hit streaming. If you missed its Sundance buzz or just want to see what the fuss is about, it is about to be very easy to watch.
When and where to watch
'Sorry, Baby' starts streaming Thursday, October 30, exclusively on HBO Max. If you still do linear, it also premieres on HBO that same night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
What it is
'Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on... for everyone around her, at least. When a beloved friend visits on the brink of a major milestone, Agnes starts to realize just how stuck she's been, and begins to work through how to move forward.'
That sounds like a downer, but this is A24 doing a black comedy, so expect equal parts sting and sting-laced laughs.
The essentials
- Producer: Barry Jenkins (yes, that Barry Jenkins), alongside Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak
- Writer/Director: Eva Victor ('Billions'), making their feature-length directorial debut
- Cast: Eva Victor as Agnes; Naomi Ackie as Lydie; Lucas Hedges as Gavin; John Carroll Lynch as Pete; Louis Cancelmi as Preston Decker; Kelly McCormack as Natasha
- Streaming: HBO Max on Thursday, October 30
- Broadcast: HBO at 8:00 p.m. ET on the same day
How it has been playing so far
The film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival back in January and has been riding a wave ever since: it is Certified Fresh at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes from 168 reviews. That puts it near the top of A24's year, ahead of Alex Garland's 'Warfare' at 93%, Danny and Michael Philippou's 'Bring Her Back' at 89%, and even Benny Safdie's upcoming 'The Smashing Machine' at 75%.
Short version: a tightly praised A24 comedy with Barry Jenkins producing and Eva Victor stepping up to the big chair, landing on HBO Max and HBO the same day. Easy recommendation to queue up.
