Hazbin Hotel Creator Teases The Most Romantic Season Yet And Hints At Season 3 Plot
With Season 2 wrapped, Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano says Season 3 will be the show’s most romantic yet, teasing bold new themes and plot turns for the adult animated hit.
Hazbin Hotel just wrapped Season 2, and creator Vivienne Medrano is already calling her shot on Season 3. Short version: expect big feelings, bigger drama, and at least one character flip that will have the fandom doing frame-by-frame rewatches.
Season 3 is going full romance
In a chat with Polygon, Medrano said the next chapter of her adult animated series is leaning hard into the love story side of things — and she sounds thrilled about it.
"I am excited for people to see a season that is really emotional. It’s the most romantic season, which I love as a romance writer. I just love the dramatic, the angst, the twists and turns of Season 3."
The twist: a familiar ally steps into villain territory
Medrano also teased a big turn for a character the show has been quietly building since the beginning. She would not name names, but she did make it clear we should be looking at someone who has read as a friendly face or anti-hero — someone on the "right side" across the first two seasons — who will finally reveal a darker, more calculated agenda in Season 3. She described him as trickstery and devious, with motivations that are more sinister than we have seen so far. If you are already mentally running through the suspects, join the club.
Morningstar family spotlight, plus Lute after Adam
Season 3 will put more emphasis on the Morningstar family dynamics, which should make the lore nerds very happy. On the Heaven side, Lute is getting a major arc following Adam's death. Medrano says Lute has been carrying the most bottled-up emotion in the ensemble — both from how she has been treated and from watching Heaven and Hell collide — and we are finally going to see that pressure valve blow.
Backstory time: Sir Pentious, Alastor, and more
If you have been waiting for deeper character histories, that is on deck too. Medrano specifically called out dives into Sir Pentious and Alastor, with more backstory beats for others sprinkled in. Translation: expect those connective tissue episodes that reframe earlier seasons on a rewatch.
So, when do we get it?
No release date yet. The team has not locked a window, but the expectation right now is sometime in 2027. In other words, plenty of time to revisit Seasons 1 and 2 and sharpen your theories about which "friendly" face is about to go full villain.
