Hayden Christensen's Favorite Star Wars Movies Aren't the Ones You Expect
He may be Darth Vader on screen, but Hayden Christensen’s favorite Star Wars films come from a different era—at Fan Expo Chicago, he revealed two unexpected picks.
Hayden Christensen just picked his favorite Star Wars movies, and no, he didn't go with the ones he starred in. Honestly, solid choices.
What he picked
On Nov 24, 2025 at Fan Expo Chicago, Christensen said his two favorites are split between eras: from the original trilogy, it's The Empire Strikes Back; from the 2010s run, it's Rogue One. He called Rogue One the one that really nails what Star Wars is supposed to feel like.
"I was always a big Empire fan. And from some of the more recent films, I loved Rogue One. I thought that, for me, really kind of captured the essence of what Star Wars is meant to be. I loved how they portrayed Darth Vader in that film, too. There are so many different people that have contributed to this character, and I'm just one of them. And I loved what they did."
The Rogue One praise tracks. He zeroed in on how Darth Vader is presented in that movie, and coming from the guy who literally became Vader on screen, that hits a little different.
Quick refresher on Hayden's Star Wars track record
- 2002: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones — Christensen takes over as Anakin Skywalker, following Jake Lloyd's kid Anakin in Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
- 2005: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith — completes Anakin's fall to the dark side.
- 2022: Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi — returns as Darth Vader opposite Ewan McGregor; the finale ends with Obi-Wan getting the better of his former padawan.
- 2023: Disney+ series Ahsoka — appears opposite Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano, his former Jedi apprentice.
- Coming up: Ahsoka Season 2 — Christensen is set to return; no release date yet.
So, Empire and Rogue One are his top two. Not exactly shocking picks if you've seen how those movies treat Vader, but still fun to hear straight from Anakin himself.
