Iconic romance is no longer exciting.

Needless to say, Starz's Outlander is still one of the most popular fantasy shows on the air right now, even though its first season premiered all the way back in 2014. While the time-traveling twist is essential to the Outlander's success, it's not the reason people watch the show, as most are invested in Claire and Jamie's romance, not the fantasy shenanigans.

Throughout the seasons, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan have proven to have a crazy chemistry together that has made fans believe that Claire and Jamie are madly in love, so fans were expecting to see the same level of affection between the characters in the first part of Season 7. However, they didn't see anything like that.

A drop in quality

While Season 7 managed to fix most of the mistakes of the previous seasons, making the supporting characters feel essential and interesting again, and making the American villages look like real places and not a bunch of props, the writers still managed to ruin one big thing - Claire and Jamie's romance.

Yes, we understand that Claire and Jamie have been together for over 30 years at this point in the story, but that still doesn't explain why they started looking like robots instead of lovers. And fans are sure that the writers, not the actors, are to blame.

'I feel like Jamie and Claire are missing the spark they had in this season and I don't mean the spicy scenes cause they don't make that much of a difference to me, just their interactions in general feel kind of robotic. By all means it has nothing to do with Cait and Sam's portrayal of them, I think it's a lot more about the writing, I feel like we got such few scenes of them,' a fan noted.

A change of scenery

Some fans feel that the show began to lose its magic the moment Claire and Jamie arrived in colonial America, because Scotland was simply essential to the core of their romance.
