The iconic actor hates Trey as much as the next guy.

HBO's Sex and The City is by far one of the most popular and beloved shows to offer a truthful, no-holds-barred portrayal of modern urban dating, with no annoying laughs or contrived jokes ever ruining its stellar six-season run.

Plus, the show has remained relevant to this day, inspiring everything from Girls to Gossip Girl, with fans still genuinely enjoying rewatching it from time to time. So, it's no wonder many of the actors who appeared on the show regard their SACT alter egos as important parts of their lives, except for Kyle MacLachlan.

After Twin Peaks, Kyle MacLachlan became one of the most sought-after actors, appearing in numerous movies and shows on an almost annual basis in the 1990s, so his stint on HBO's biggest show of the decade at the height of its popularity was pretty much an inevitability.

Enter Trey MacDougal: a seemingly perfect match for Charlotte York, as not only was he handsome and wealthy, but he was also madly in love with her. The couple quickly got hitched and were looking forward to a perfect life together, but then problems began piling up, each one revealing more and more about what a total creep Trey actually was.

The guy had some serious mommy issues and a rather bizarre sense of humour, but the development fans can never forget is when he gave Charlotte a cardboard baby as a gift after they failed to conceive a child together. And to add insult to injury, Trey also had a reality distortion field around him, creating a bubble of sorts that Charlotte got trapped in: it was just too weird for comfort. Few fans liked Trey, and MacLachlan was painfully aware of that.

'I was angry at the character actually. What's this cardboard baby? I asked the writers and they said, "Oh, it's funny," so I went, "OK, I'm not sure I think so but OK." There was definitely a side to Trey that was a little oblivious to certain things. And had every right to be angry with me if that's the case. I was angry with me!' MacLachlan said.

Well, it looks like even the actor was a bit surprised that the writers decided to make Trey such a creep, but there's no denying that MacLachlan did a perfect job of bringing this weirdo to life, and the creepiness that ensued on screen is testament to his talent as an actor.
