Harry Bosch's TV Comeback Lands Prison Break Star In Big Cast Expansion
Prison Break alum William Fichtner, Azita Ghanizada, and Kathleen Wilhoite join Bosch: Start of Watch in recurring roles, boosting the ensemble as the prequel digs into Harry Bosch’s early years.
Harry Bosch is headed back to the streets of LA, only this time he is 26, brand-new to the badge, and not yet the guy who glowers over murder boards. The prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch just bulked up its cast with a few names that make a lot of sense for a story about ambition, crime, and the fine print of power.
New faces in a younger Bosch's world
William Fichtner, Azita Ghanizada, and Kathleen Wilhoite have signed on in recurring roles for the upcoming MGM+ drama. The show rewinds to 1991 Los Angeles and follows rookie LAPD officer Harry Bosch as he tries to prove himself while the city simmers with racial tension, gang violence, and fractures inside the department. Those routine radio calls do not stay routine for long: Bosch gets pulled into a major heist and a broader corruption network that will harden him into the detective we know.
Who is playing who
- Cameron Monaghan leads as 26-year-old Harry Bosch, starting his first days on patrol.
- William Fichtner plays Calhern, a respected defense attorney who evolves into a power broker within LA's criminal underworld. That tracks.
- Azita Ghanizada is Stacy, an ambitious lawyer drawn toward criminal power; her relationship with master thief Cory Harbor tests just how far she is willing to go.
- Kathleen Wilhoite appears as Helen, Bosch's foster mother, grieving the recent loss of her husband.
- Omari Hardwick is Eli Bridges, Bosch's training officer, which should give this rookie era some bite.
- Ariana Guerra plays Rosa, another rookie officer navigating the same fractured LAPD.
- JD Pardo is Cory, a professional thief whose presence connects to that big heist thread.
Behind the badge
Fabel Entertainment produces the series. It was co-created by Tom Bernardo and Brian Anthony, with Bernardo serving as showrunner. Michael Connelly is among the executive producers, and yes, he sounds pretty energized about finally dramatizing Bosch's origin story.
'Being able to see how Harry Bosch became the man we have loved for 10 seasons is a gift to me and his many fans.'
Bernardo has framed the show as a portrait of how the early 1990s shaped both Bosch and Los Angeles itself, which gives this prequel room to be more than just a greatest-hits reel of younger versions.
Where to watch
