After ghosting fans since its missed 2023 debut, The Wolf Among Us 2 still isn’t dead—leaks from eXtas1stv on X hint at an October promo push as Telltale stays silent.

If The Wolf Among Us 2 has a signature move, it is disappearing right when you look for it. The game is not canceled, but Telltale has gone quiet after missing the old 2023 launch window. Now a new leak says we might finally hear something concrete this October. Maybe even more than that.

Quick catch-up: where we left Bigby

  • February 2022: Telltale shows The Wolf Among Us 2 and plants a 2023 release target.
  • 2023: Telltale goes through major layoffs. The downsizing stalls progress and that 2023 plan slips away.
  • Development notes: Telltale previously said all episodes were being built at the same time, and the project migrated to Unreal Engine 5. Translation: when it finally drops, we might not be waiting weeks between episodes.
  • 2025 (now): No official update, no cancellation. But a fresh rumor says a promo push is penciled in for October.

The rumor everyone is watching

The latest spark comes from leaker eXtas1s (on X as @eXtas1stv), who has a track record that includes nailing some big game scoops like Resident Evil 9. According to them, Telltale has a marketing beat lined up for this fall:

"Promotion event set for October 2025."

As always, grain of salt. Even if the info is solid today, plans change, and Telltale is not exactly known for hitting early dates.

Why October actually makes sense

Setting aside leaks, October would be a smart play. The vibe of Fables — the DC Vertigo comic series this is based on — fits spooky season, and the original game launched in October 2013. Twelve years later, the timing practically markets itself.

There is also the strategy angle: if the studio is truly gearing up promotion, a tighter runway to release is possible. Think of the shorter campaign some studios aim for before a drop; if everything is lined up, they could keep the gap between reveal and launch brief. The optimistic read is that two additional years might have been enough to finish a project that was reportedly already far along. Emphasis on might.

The state of the game (and why the silence)

The long quiet tracks with the 2023 layoffs and a switch to Unreal Engine 5 midstream — both are big, messy disruptions. Building episodes concurrently is ambitious, but it could pay off with a smoother rollout when it finally lands. The downside is you do not get those incremental status updates that come with staggered episode production. So, yeah, radio silence.

So, when do we actually play it?

Best case: October brings the first proper update in ages and a swift follow-through on release plans. Wild card: they shadow-drop it in October and let Bigby crash the party without a long campaign. That would fit the mood and capitalize on the date. More cautious read: we get a trailer and a window, but not a same-month launch. All of this depends on Telltale actually being ready to talk.

However it shakes out, fans have been waiting patiently since that cliffhanger a dozen years ago. If Telltale really has everything cooking in parallel, this could be worth the long, weird road. Until they say something official, though, consider this a promising rumor — not a promise.
