Grey's Anatomy Fans Refuse to Forgive Erica Hahn for Past Mistakes
It seems that being a talented surgeon is not enough to be a good person.
ABC's hit medical drama about a group of doctors who work their way up from interns to world-renowned surgeons has been a major talking point since it premiered in 2005, and even after all these years it keeps the fans invested in its future.
Grey's Anatomy's winning formula has always remained the same, as the combination of interesting medical cases and emotional relationship drama has attracted people to the Shonda Rhimes’ series from the very start.
While many of the characters were loved by most fans, some were genuinely hated and Erica Hahn is one of the most prominent examples of that.
This heart surgeon first appeared in the second season of the series, and viewers immediately disliked this selfish but talented doctor. Although Erica behaved quite professionally in the first episodes, people still began to notice that there was something wrong with her, and her falling out with Cristina Yang in season three proved this.
When the two doctors started working together, Erica found out about Cristina's romantic relationship with Preston Burke, and she immediately became enraged.
The thing is, Erica and Preston were major rivals in medical school, and even after all these years, she continued to treat him as her personal villain. While fans were fine with Erica's quarrel with Preston, her unprofessional attitude towards Cristina still angeres them to this day.
Erica practically bullied Cristina about her romantic life, refused to teach her, constantly made inappropriate remarks and was just plain rude. Even her colleagues noticed this, pressuring her to do something about the situation between her and Cristina. But nothing happened, and soon enough Erica left the show, making viewers no longer care about her behavior.
Although some fans are still trying to prove that Erica was not as bad as everyone remembers, given that she was a talented doctor and often helped her other colleagues, most fans are convinced that some of her past mistakes cannot be undone.
