With critics circling Hulu’s All’s Fair, Golden Globe winner Glenn Close is standing up for Kim Kardashian and touting her on-screen chops following the series’ Nov. 4, 2025 debut.

Glenn Close is not here for the pile-on. While critics have been dunking on Hulu's new legal drama 'All's Fair,' she is publicly backing both the show and its headline-making star, Kim Kardashian. And yes, she has receipts.

Close on Kim: smart, focused, and doing flashcards between takes

In a chat with The Guardian, the Golden Globe winner talked about working with Kardashian on 'All's Fair' and sounded genuinely fond of her. Close called Kim 'lovely' and 'very smart,' and said that on set Kim was extremely attentive with her kids. The part that surprised me: Close says Kim was actively grinding toward her law degree during production, literally studying with flashcards near the end of filming.

According to Close, Kim now has that law degree, and when Close asked if she planned to practice, Kim told her she wants to keep it as an achievement in her 'back pocket.'

About that acting experience

Close also addressed the big question: did Kim have any real acting background before taking her first lead role? Close laughed and said, basically, no — but added that Kim surrounded herself with strong people. That tracks with how this show was assembled.

'I swear to God, I have seen all nine episodes and it is pretty f---ing good. It is what it is: it is juicy and outrageous at times and touching.'

That is Close's take on the series, delivered while the reviews have been rough. She is leaning all the way in.

The show, the rollout, and the timing quirk

'All's Fair' was co-created by Ryan Murphy, Joe Baken, and Jon Robin Baitz — and the cast is stacked: along with Kardashian and Close, you have Teyana Taylor, Naomi Watts, and Niecy Nash, among others.

One weirdly specific detail: the show premiered the same day Kardashian sat for her latest bar exam attempt. Make of that what you will — synergy, symbolism, scheduling chaos — but it is a choice.

  • Platform and premiere: Hulu, launched November 4, 2025
  • Creators: Ryan Murphy, Joe Baken, Jon Robin Baitz
  • Main cast: Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash
  • Episodes: Close says there are nine total; she has seen them all
  • What is out now: five episodes
  • What is next: two more episodes in the coming weeks
  • Final drop: the last two episodes land December 9, 2025
  • Critical vibe so far: backlashy, which Close is pushing back against

Bottom line

Close is putting her name behind both Kim and the show, calling it juicy, outrageous, and sometimes touching. If the reviews have scared you off, consider this your nudge from someone who has actually watched all nine.
