The final eighth season of Game of Thrones was released back in 2019, but the cult HBO series based on George R. R. Martin's novels has managed to retain its appeal even after its epic end, attracting more and more fantasy lovers to the dangerous and fascinating world of Westeros.

Magic, dragons, medieval settings, and plenty of intrigue and power struggles — these are the elements that have made the show so popular with viewers.

Game of Thrones revolves around several dynasties in their quest to rule the Seven Kingdoms, and one of the most powerful houses is the Lannisters, who are the ruling royal family.

Of them, the most vile character is probably Cersei Lannister — the cold-blooded, ruthless, and cunning Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Cersei's schemes have led many other characters to their demise, making her a good player in the win-or-die game of thrones.

The Queen goes through plenty of suffering and dies in pain, as she is crushed by the crumbling Red Keep castle during Daenerys' fiery siege — and yet, fans of the show do not feel the slightest bit of sympathy for her, arguing that Cersei is to blame for her own tragic end.

Many viewers point out that her father had warned her many times about the dangers that her ruthlessness might lead to, but Cersei never listened and subsequently suffered her punishment.

"She's a textbook narcissist. Vain, prone to flattery, vindictive, impatient, and unable or unwilling to consider the long-term consequences of her decisions," wrote Redditor Plane_Arachnid9178, and this view is echoed in other people's comments, showing a complete lack of compassion for Cersei among the fans.

There are also those who say that Cersei had a horrible life and was surrounded by horrible people, but that still does not justify her actions.

Would she have been different if her father hadn't been a power-hungry monster incapable of feeling love and affection, or if she hadn't been surrounded by people who only wanted to use her? Perhaps — but this isn't particularly important because, if these speculations were true, Game of Thrones wouldn't be the same show we all love.

In any case, the general consensus is that Cersei Lannister is to blame for her own tragic fate because it is mostly her fault. Moreover, Game of Throne fans believe that the producers were too merciful for the character, sparing Cersei a lot of suffering with the rushed ending.

Meanwhile, George R. R. Martin's Cersei is still alive, and we can hope that the legendary writer will give her the ending that this villainess truly deserves.
