Game Night Goes Hollywood: Fan-Favorite Multiplayer Hit Levels Up to the Big Screen
More than a year after Anegar Games launched Chained Together, Anton — the producer behind Greenland, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's action thriller Fuze, and the acclaimed Memoir of a Snail — is developing a live-action movie adaptation of the hit multiplayer game.
Well, this was bound to happen: the co-op chaos of Chained Together is heading to the big screen. A little over a year after Anegar Games launched the hit indie, a live-action movie adaptation is officially in the works.
So, what is Chained Together?
If you missed the summer-of-screaming-streamers moment: it is a 3D platformer where up to four players are literally chained together and have to climb out of hell. You start at the bottom (yep, in hell), and the only way is up, hopping across increasingly nasty platforms while trying not to yank your friends into the abyss. It demands tight timing, constant communication, and a high tolerance for chaos. In its first week, it pulled in about 80,000 players. Not bad for a game built on trust falls.
Who is making the movie?
Per Deadline, Anton — the company behind Greenland — is developing the adaptation. They also have Aaron Taylor-Johnson's action thriller Fuze and the acclaimed Memoir of a Snail on their slate, so they are not shy about swinging between genres.
Producing are Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert of So It Goes Entertainment. If those names ring a bell, it is because they recently wrote Sylvester Stallone's 2024 action pic Armor and Cole Sprouse's action comedy Under Fire.
"Chained Together is one of those games that instantly connects with players because of its humor, challenge, and sense of teamwork. As producers, we could not be more excited to be working with Anton on this. We think they are the perfect partner for this project, and we believe there is an endless amount of fun to be had with the premise. The game's collaborative nature, the dependency between players chained together, creates a unique foundation for cinematic storytelling. We cannot wait to bring that spirit to life for fans and new audiences alike."

There is no creative team or timeline to pick apart yet, but the premise is tailor-made for a tension-and-comedy cocktail: one bad jump, everyone eats it. If they lean into the teamwork and dependency that makes the game so chaotic, this could be a very loud theater experience.
