Frasier Reboot Biggest Problem? More of the Same, It Seems
The iconic sitcom is back.
Without a doubt, Frasier is one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, as Kelsey Grammer's fan-favorite performance as the eponymous hero has captivated audiences since his appearance on Cheers more than three decades ago. And even though the show ended some time ago, fans continue to watch it to this day, so it comes as no surprise that Paramount + has decided to capitalize on that by bringing Frasier back for a brand new season.
The upcoming episode will see Frasier return from Seattle to Boston to reconnect with his son, but as always, his snobbery will ruin things in a big way. The streaming network just unveiled the trailer for the revival season, and while fans were happy to see Grammer back as Frasier, some things still made them feel a little uneasy.
More of the same
While it was fun to watch Frasier chase women during the original show, as his total lack of self-reflection and terrible snobbery made the scenes of him flirting with women quite hilarious, Frasier is an old man now, and the fact that fans saw him chasing skirts in the trailer didn't please them at all.
People are sure that the writers should have approached Frasier's character development in a different way, making him focus on repairing the relationship with his son instead of constantly trying to pick up women.
'That's the one thing I didn't want. Single is fine, but I wanted him to be content with single life. Watching him chase women at that age seems depressing,' a fan said.
Character's absence worries fans
While Frasier was undeniably the main hero of the original show, other characters were just as important to the success of the show, and David Hyde Pierce's Niles Crane was the most beloved of all the supporting characters, as his dry wit and dark humor made him the perfect foil for Frasier.
While it has been known for some time that Pierce refused to return to the revival show, not seeing him in the trailer made fans quite sad, especially since another character had already taken his place.
'I can't help but think when watching this though, as the actor said "Have you considered that he hates you", how much funnier I would have found it if it were Niles saying it,' a fan noted.
