This season's final episode will feature a very special guest.

Summary

  • Frasier reboot will conclude with a festive finale.
  • One of the original sitcom's stars will reprise her role in the upcoming episode.
  • Her relationship with the main character was crucial to the iconic show.

As Christmas approaches – slowly but surely – a number of Christmas specials are coming. Just last week, Virgin River's holiday episodes dropped after nearly three months of fan anticipation. And it looks like another popular show is going to treat us to a Christmas special – the Frasier reboot is about to wrap up its first season with a festive episode.

The highly anticipated Paramount+ revival of the iconic 1990s sitcom premiered in early October to critical and audience acclaim. However, as the show progressed, it proved to be somewhat underwhelming. While fans were excited to see their favorite character back after a nearly twenty-year hiatus, they couldn't come to terms with how different the Frasier reboot felt without the rest of the original star-studded cast. Fortunately, the upcoming tenth episode will be a treat in that regard, as the sitcom's ultimate star will make a cameo appearance on the new show.

Peri Gilpin Will Reprise Her Iconic Role in Episode 10

The Frasier reboot wouldn't be possible without its main character, played by Kelsey Grammer, of course. But he's not the only reason the original sitcom was so popular in the first place. Naturally, viewers were upset that the other stars of the original sitcom didn't return for the reboot, with a few notable exceptions. For example, Bebe Neuwirth made a cameo appearance in episode 7 of the revival, reprising her role as Frasier's villainous and troublesome ex-wife Lilith. Now, in the new installment of the fan-favorite sitcom, Peri Gilpin, who played Roz, Frasier's manager and best friend in the original show, will pay the main character a Christmas Eve visit.

'I just loved getting to do it. It was a fantasy come true to play that part again and to go back into that world,' Peri Gilpin commented on reprising her iconic role on Frasier revival. 'You're like, "Oh my gosh, I get to see this again. It's new, it's fresh, but I am getting the same feelings I got from watching it the first time."'

Roz and Frasier: A Special Bond

Throughout Frasier's eleven-season run, the two characters enjoyed a fascinating relationship, full of witty insults, retorts and affection. In fact, the writers even tried to get them romantically involved at one point, but the idea was quickly abandoned as Roz and Frasier's friendship was far more valuable narratively.

'[They] had a great, great friendship and both of them needed that friendship. I think he was like her older brother and she could always go to him. And those friendships are very, very hard to come by, you realize,' Gilpin said in an interview.

Perhaps for that reason, Roz's return to Frasier will be a dream come true for many viewers. Episode 10 will premiere tomorrow, December 7.
