Fox Sports Veteran Host Exits Good Day New York — What We Know
Fox Sports veteran Curt Menefee is leaving Good Day New York, confirming he’s not coming back as he pivots to other Fox programs—leaving viewers surprised but not empty‑handed about what’s next.
Curt Menefee is tapping out of the early-morning grind. The Fox Sports lifer told Good Day New York viewers he is finishing out the year, then not returning in 2026. He is not leaving Fox, just shifting his energy back to the weekend sports world that made him a staple in the first place.
What he said on-air
On Tuesday's show, Menefee told co-host Rosanna Scotto that his nearly two-year run on GDNY is winding down. The reason is exactly what you think it is: the cross-country commute. He is based on the West Coast, and the back-and-forth to New York finally caught up with him.
'But I am not coming back in 2026. It’s been a great time. You have been welcoming, and the staff is wonderful. It’s just the back and forth. I think a lot of people know that I stay on the West Coast.'
'My wife is there full-time, and we see each other 20 hours a week. And it’s the life I’ve chosen, so I’m not complaining. I’m just saying, at some point you have to make an adjustment.'
Where you will still see him
Menefee is staying put at Fox Sports. Expect him on weekends, not Monday through Friday in NYC. He specifically called out these gigs:
- Fox NFL Sunday (his longtime home base)
- UFL football in the spring
- Coverage of the Belmont Stakes
The Rosanna factor
Menefee framed his on-air chemistry with Scotto as a 'brother-sister' thing where they give each other a hard time, and he made a point to say he will miss New York and how many people stop him to talk about their love for the show. He credited a lot of GDNY's success to Scotto and told her that sharing the desk with her was an honor.
The timeline, minus the whiplash
Menefee joined Fox Sports in 1997 as a sideline reporter and quickly moved into play-by-play, including NFL Europe and Fox NFL. In 2007 he took over as the full-time host of Fox NFL Sunday, a role he still holds. He started co-hosting Good Day New York on January 7, 2024, and will keep doing it through the end of 2025. January would have marked two years at GDNY, but he is choosing sanity (and time with his wife) over more red-eye flights in 2026.
Bottom line: if you want your Menefee fix next year, find him where he is most at home — on Fox Sports every weekend.
