It's been confirmed that the studio is already working on another offshoot of its most popular superhero satire.

Summary

  • Gen V had a rough run, but ultimately proved popular.
  • The next The Boys spin-off is currently in pre-production.
  • The franchise will have more installments in the near future.

Upon its premiere in September, Gen V didn't make much of a splash, with the first three episodes being moderately good. After that, the spin-off seemed to go downhill, as its ratings dropped over the next three episodes. But Gen V's November finale proved to be outstanding, with the highest score of the entire season – 8.6 on IMDb. Despite the swings in popularity, the show was renewed for a second season in October, when it was at its lowest point.

Apparently, Amazon is creating a franchise out of The Boys universe, even if certain shows don't perform well. Now, the series is expected to grow as another spin-off, The Boys: Mexico, has been announced by the studio. However, little is known about the upcoming show.

What Is Known About The Boys: Mexico?

It's only been a few days since news broke that Amazon was developing another spin-off of its hit superhero show. So far, only a few details have been revealed about the production in question. For example, it's been announced that Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote this year's iteration of Blue Beetle, will serve as showrunner. Diego Luna and Gael García have been named executive producers, who may also have brief cameo appearances in The Boys: Mexico.

Obviously, the show will be set in Mexico. But that's all we know so far. According to reports, the show's final budget hasn't been approved yet. Casting hasn't started yet either. So it looks like it's going to be a long time before The Boys: Mexico premieres.

The Boys' Other Installments

As mentioned above, Gen V has been renewed for a second season. Given that it's only been a month since the renewal, the script is unlikely to be finished, so it's unknown when the spinoff's second installment will start filming, let alone when it will be released.

The Boys' fourth season, on the other hand, was greenlit back in 2022, so the show must already be underway. It is currently scheduled to premiere in 2024. Since all three previous installments of the superhero satire were released in the summer/early fall, we can expect The Boys Season 4 to hit our screens sometime in the third quarter of 2024.

Hopefully, none of the franchise's upcoming installments will be disappointing.
