Fans've Already Guessed Who Monay from Claim to Fame is Related To
Wondering who Monay's famous relative is?
ABC's Claim to Fame is one of the most intriguing reality shows on television right now, inviting fans to follow the lives of celebrity relatives and guess who the contestants are related to.
In the show's second season, the rules are the same — 12 contestants live in a luxurious Hollywood mansion and try to reveal the identities of their rivals in each episode. The last contestant whose relative is not revealed wins. There's plenty of room for maneuvering and strategizing, as the contestants participate in challenges and vote on who will be a 'guesser,' making the show all the more compelling to watch.
And the biggest mystery of this season is undoubtedly Monay, who skillfully hides the details of her life and forms the most dynamic duo on television with Shayne. Fans predict Monay is likely to win this season, suggesting their ideas for who her famous relative might be.
What do we know about this mysterious contestant so far? In Episode 1, Monay was the first to reveal three pieces of information about her famous relative, but one of those details is wrong: a father, an athlete, and an Emmy winner. Episode 3 gave us more clues about her secret relative: a fedora, a necklace with a lock, and a cloud with a thunderbolt. There's also a 'family sign' clue, which may or may not belong to Monay.
Many fans believe these clues point to Steve Harvey.
'I'm pretty confident the "family" sign is for Monay due to Family Feud, as I'm pretty sure her dad is Steve Harvey,' one of the fans suggested. One of the participants, Karsyn, voiced the same guess.
The assumption seems logical since Harvey has seven Emmys and wears fedoras. Also, the lightning bolt could be a reference to his show, Steve Harvey's Funderdome, and as Karsyn pointed out, the 'family' clue may also refer to this show.
However, other fans doubt this guess is right, as Monay may be intentionally misleading contestants into thinking she is related to Steve. Many believe that her father is a completely different media personality.
'JB Smoove. The fedora cemented it for me,' another fan said.
J. B. Smoove is indeed a fedora aficionado and also won an Emmy in 2021 for Mapleworth Murders. But then again, if we assume that Monay's relative is an athlete, it could be Michael Jordan or even James Earl Jones, among other celebs.
To find out if any of these guesses are true, you'll have to watch the following episodes of Claim to Fame. The next one will hit the screens on July 17, 2023.
