Face It: 10 Actors You Recognise but Can't Put a Name To
We've all been there; you're watching a show, and someone comes on the screen who you only know as 'that one' from a different show.
Because there are dozens of actors who we all know the face of but can't put a name to.
Here are just 10:
1. Melanie Lynskey – Most recently seen in The Last of Us, the New Zealand-born actor has an impressive list of credits to her name, including Rose in Two and a Half Men and an appearance on House. She also appeared in But I'm a Cheerleader and Flags of Our Fathers.
2. Missi Pyle – Another alumnus of Two and a Half Men, Pyle has been active since 1999 and appeared in Friends and Frasier. And she played Mrs Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory alongside Johnny Depp.
3. Martha Plimpton – After starting out as a model, Plimpton has had several roles on stage in the US and UK. But you probably remember her as Stef from the Goonies. She also appeared in ER, and she's back on TV now as Mint Ma Lord in A Town Called Malice.
4. William Fichtner – Born on a US Air Force Base, Fichtner's filmography appropriately includes Pearl Harbour and Black Hawk Down. Perhaps best known as Alexander Mahone in Prison Break, he's also been in The West Wing and Baywatch. In 2021, he appeared with Kelsey Grammar in the movie The Space Between.
5. Andy Serkis – Despite being active since 1994, much of Serkis' work has been voice acting or characters that involve significant makeup or costume. He was Gollum in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, Alfred in The Batman and the voice of Captain Haddock in Tintin. But you probably just recognise him as being part of the film world somehow.
6. Amy Sedaris – Perhaps best remembered as Gladys Kravitz in Bewitched, Sedaris has a diverse filmography that includes roles in Harley Quinn, The Book of Boba Fett and The Good Wife.

7. John Michael Higgins – With recurring roles in Happily Divorced, Kath and Kim and Ally McBeal to his name, Higgins is a face you must've seen on screen at some point. He's been around since 1986 and has a massive list of credits. But did you have any idea what his name is?
8. Giovanni Ribisi – He was in Saving Private Ryan, Gone in 60 Seconds and The Wonder Years. But you remember him as Frank Buffay Jr, Phoebe's younger brother in Friends. He was also Ralph Mariano in My Name is Earl.
9. Gary Cole – Another one who has been around since forever. He was Vice President Bob Russell in The West Wing and has had several voice roles – including Principal Shepherd in Family Guy.
10. Keith David – After starting out on stage, David started in films in 1979. His TV roles include playing Earl Woods, father of Tiger in the 1998 film about the golfer's life.
