Lewis Hamilton says the F1 movie sequel is already roaring off the grid, with writers and producers actively trading ideas and mapping out the next chapter.

Lewis Hamilton says the F1 movie follow-up is already moving, and he is deep in the mix. He is not promising a quick turnaround, but he is clearly steering the thing with the same focus he brings to a last-lap scrap.

Where the sequel stands

Speaking at a press conference before the season opener in Melbourne, the seven-time world champion said the creative team has started shaping the story and building out ideas.

"We're already working on the first script."

Hamilton said the first sit-down about the sequel happened late last year with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski, and that he has since had multiple meetings with screenwriter Ehren Kruger to map out different directions for the script.

Who is already in the mix

  • Lewis Hamilton: producer and on-screen presence
  • Jerry Bruckheimer: producing
  • Joseph Kosinski: directing
  • Ehren Kruger: writing the script

What Hamilton learned from the first film

Hamilton was on camera and behind the scenes last time, and he called the experience intense and eye-opening. Now he wants to use what worked, fix what did not, and push the sequel further. He also says the first movie pulled in fresh eyes to the sport; he keeps getting messages from people who discovered F1 through the film. That matters to him.

Temper the hype, keep the bar high

Even with the wheels turning, Hamilton insists they are not going to rush a follow-up just to have one. His read on sequels is blunt, and honestly, smart.

"Sequels aren't always successful... we're going to take our time to make sure the result is perfect."

He is not worried about the pieces in place — strong team, cast, and writer — but the plan is to be careful and deliberate rather than sprint into production.
