Every Black Mirror Season 6 Episode, Ranked by How Mind-Blowing They Are
Charlie Brooker's latest is madder than ever.
While some people think that Charlie Brooker's dystopian anthology got worse the moment the creator signed the deal with Netflix, the talented writer is still capable of surprising his fans, and the recently released Season 6 proves that perfectly. Even though some of the episodes felt a bit half-baked and uninspired, the amount of jaw-dropping moments made every one of them worth watching.
Here are all the Season 6 episodes, ranked by how mind-blowing they are.
5. Joan Is Awful
Sadly, this episode is one of the least exciting, even though the synopsis for it is pretty great — a regular woman suddenly finds out that a huge streaming service has made a whole show based on her life, starring Salma Hayek. While this idea sounds pretty meta, the writing and the final twist left many fans disappointed.
4. Mazey Day
The story of a famous movie star being stalked by fame-hungry paparazzi looks like a perfect fit for Black Mirror on paper, but unfortunately, this episode also flopped. Viewers criticized subpar directing in the episode, and even though the final twist made things a little more interesting, 'Mazey Day' will probably be forgotten in no time.
3. Demon 79
For this episode, Brooker traveled all the way back to 1979 to tell the story of a saleswoman who is forced to perform some evil acts under the guidance of a mysterious man. Of course, this story has nothing to do with Black Mirror's usual themes, but it still holds up surprisingly well and makes for an interesting horror watch.
2. Loch Henry
The story of a couple of documentarians caught up in a murder plot deep in the Scottish moors sounds more like Netflix's usual true-crime extravaganza, but Brooker was able to give that formula a great makeover, turning the banal short story into a macabre horror.
1. Beyond the Sea
The episode follows two deep space astronauts traveling back to Earth while living their normal lives at home using their android bodies. The story is just as crazy as it sounds, and fans were impressed with how quickly the themes of depression and alienation were quickly swapped for some good old-fashioned cult murders.
