Even Ridley Scott Approves the New Alien Movie Set for 2024
The next chapter in the Alien franchise is nearly complete.
Although not many people have actually heard about it, it looks like 2024 will be the year that the Alien franchise returns to theaters in full force, finally making people forget about the underwhelming Prometheus and Alien: Covenant movies.
Evil Dead director Fede Álvarez is in charge of the upcoming film, which has been given the title Alien: Romulus and will focus on a group of teenagers stranded on the desolate planet with a Xenomorph.
While the idea of putting the teenagers at the center of an Alien movie didn't sit well with longtime fans of the franchise, the director stuck to the script and recently completed the first draft of the movie, and it looks like the naysayers will be proven wrong when Romulus is released in 2024.
Ridley's approval
It's no secret that veteran director Ridley Scott is one of the toughest people in Hollywood, so it was only natural that Álvarez was extremely apprehensive about showing his film to the creator of the Alien franchise. The rising star of horror revealed that Scott demanded to see the film alone, as he is very concerned about the quality of films based on his own work.
Fortunately, it looks like Álvarez's vision for the future of the Alien universe was well received by Scott, as the Romulus director recently confirmed.
'And then he walked into the room and he did say, "Fede, what can I say? It’s f-ing great." For me it was like… My family knows it was one of the best moments of my life to have a master like him, who I admired so much, to even watch a movie I made but particularly something like this… and talk to me for an hour about what he liked about it,' Álvarez said.
Yes, it looks like the toughest judge in Hollywood really liked the upcoming Alien movie, which will certainly make all the long-time fans of the franchise pay a lot of attention to Romulus, which is set to premiere sometime in 2024.
