The actor is sad about the Supernatural franchise's conclusion.

It's been three years since Supernatural aired its last episode, and we still have an unfilled void in our hearts. The cult show ran for a whopping fifteen seasons, arguably venturing into soap opera territory traditionally dominated by shows like Grey's Anatomy, and amassing a huge and loyal following in the process. A whole generation of people grew up watching this classic CW fantasy drama, and remain devoted fans as adults.

That's probably why there was so much excitement when the network released the prequel, The Winchesters, in late 2022. Unfortunately, the spinoff failed to impress Supernatural fans. The first season ended in March 2023, and just two months later, the network announced its cancellation, much to the dismay of the original cast, who had dedicated much of their lives to the franchise and wanted to see it live on.

Misha Collins, who portrayed Angel Castiel on Supernatural, recently said he was really bummed about the spinoff's early cancellation. In an interview with Deadline, the actor talked about his work on The Gotham Knights, a one-season superhero show on CW, and reminisced about his Supernatural days.

Misha Collins' Castiel first appeared on Supernatural in Season 4 and was originally intended to be a minor character, but he soon became fan-favorite and an integral part of the Supernatural crew. Castiel remained with the Winchester brothers as a series regular until the show's finale.

In the Deadline interview, Misha talked about how invested he was in Castiel and the show in general, and shared a sentimental story about recently getting rid of the numerous Supernatural memorabilia that had accumulated in his garage.

'I had like 60 or 70 Supernatural t-shirts and dozens of copies of Entertainment Weekly magazines that we were on the cover of. I was like, 'Oh. I just have to bring all this stuff to Goodwill. This chapter of my life is over.' I was gonna say bittersweet, but it's actually just sad. I'm not sure what the sweet part of it is,' he said.

Getting rid of the SPN junk was a deeply painful experience because he wasn't ready to let go of that chapter of his life and desperately needed another Supernatural encore.

'We have to move on and take on other exciting projects in our lives, but Supernatural is always going to have just such a fond place in my heart because it was such a big chapter of my life, but it also so radically changed my life. I still hold on to some shred of hope that, at some point, we can do some resurrection of the show. Some movie or limited-run series… find some way to say hello and goodbye to the characters one more time,' Collins told the outlet.

We hope so, too! And we are ready for whatever it takes to bring our favorite trio of Sam, Dean and Castiel together one more time!
